Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced EPOS Programme Manager with a deep background in store systems change to lead a critical transformation programme across our retail estate. This role is central to modernising our in-store technology ecosystem, including the rollout of new EPOS systems, peripheral devices, and key integrations across operations, supply chain, and customer experience.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience delivering complex technology change in a live store environment, with a pragmatic, people-first approach to change management.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the end-to-end delivery of our store systems transformation programme, with a core focus on EPOS rollout, associated systems upgrades, and in-store technology enablement.
* Own programme governance, planning, budget management, vendor engagement, and delivery assurance across multiple store formats and regions.
* Manage all technical and operational dependencies across EPOS, stock management, payment gateways, CRM, loyalty, workforce management, and back-office platforms.
* Oversee pilots, phased rollouts, and cutovers to minimise operational disruption and ensure smooth adoption in live store environments.
* Work closely with Retail Operations, IT, Commercial, and external vendors to align delivery milestones with trading calendars and store activity.
* Drive change planning, communication, training, and post-deployment support, ensuring operational readiness in stores.
* Develop and maintain comprehensive programme documentation including RAID logs, benefits tracking, and executive reporting.
* Identify risks and opportunities for innovation, ensuring resilience, scalability, and future-proofing of store systems.
* Ensure all deployments meet compliance and regulatory standards, including PCI-DSS and data privacy.
Experience & Skills:
* Proven track record delivering large-scale EPOS or store systems change across complex, multi-site retail, hospitality, or food & beverage environments.
* In-depth knowledge of in-store systems (EPOS, payment, stock control, click & collect, self-checkout, mobile POS, etc.).
* Hands-on experience running store pilots, field rollouts, and managing change in high-pressure, operationally sensitive environments.
* Strong vendor management skills including RFPs, contract negotiation, and third-party performance oversight.
* Exceptional stakeholder management skills across Technology, Operations, and Executive Leadership.
* Adept at managing multiple workstreams and cross-functional teams.
* Methodical in programme governance and delivery using Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches.
* Strong financial and benefits tracking capability with a focus on commercial outcomes.
* Resilient, pragmatic, and calm under pressure – with a passion for improving store colleague and customer experiences through technology.
Desirable:
* Knowledge of retail architecture and integrations (ERP, WMS, CRM, Loyalty, Workforce Management).
* Familiarity with leading EPOS platforms (e.g., Oracle/Micros, NCR, Diebold Nixdorf, Verifone, Square).
* Retail, hospitality, or QSR experience highly desirable.
* Certifications in PRINCE2, MSP, PMP or Agile methodologies.
