PMO Lead
About the Role
As the business embarks on an ambitious carve-out and transformation journey, we are looking for a PMO Lead to drive structure, visibility, and control across all change initiatives.
This role is crucial in shaping a high-functioning PMO that underpins programme success-from the separation of services to the implementation of new operating models and digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
1. Establish PMO Foundations
* Design and implement robust PMO frameworks, principles, and processes to support programme governance and delivery excellence.
* Embed best-in-class methodologies for status reporting, RAID management, change control, and milestone tracking.
2. Drive Document & Knowledge Management
* Develop and maintain a centralised document management system to ensure secure, version-controlled access to all programme artefacts.
* Introduce standard templates for programme documentation including project charters, business cases, programme plans, steering packs, and decision logs.
* Support traceability and audit-readiness through systematic records and structured documentation protocols.
3. Portfolio Visibility & Reporting
* Maintain a clear portfolio view of all live and upcoming projects, supporting prioritisation, interdependency mapping, and executive visibility.
* Produce high-quality dashboards and reports for leadership, ensuring key decisions are informed by accurate, timely data.
4. Risk, Issue & Change Control
* Own the RAID log and ensure effective escalation pathways for risks and issues.
* Establish strong change control processes that capture impacts on scope, timeline, and resources.
5. Stakeholder Engagement
* Act as a key point of coordination across delivery teams, third-party partners, and leadership.
* Facilitate steering meetings, programme boards, and project reviews with high-quality, standardised packs.
What We’re Looking For
Experience:
* Demonstrated success as a PMO Lead or Portfolio Analyst on large-scale change programmes-ideally in carve-out or transformation contexts.
* Hands-on experience building document management or knowledge management systems from scratch.
* Proven ability to create clarity and structure in fast-moving, high-pressure environments.
Skills & Tools:
* Proficiency in project management and collaboration tools (e.g. MS Project, JIRA, Confluence, Smartsheet, SharePoint, PowerPoint).
* Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
* Detail-oriented with an obsession for documentation quality and governance rigour.
Knowledge:
* Deep understanding of project/programme lifecycles, PMO operating models, and governance best practices.
* Familiarity with methodologies such as PRINCE2, MSP, Agile or hybrid approaches.
Attributes:
* Calm under pressure, with a proactive mindset and a knack for making complex programmes feel simple.
* Collaborative and confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels-from delivery teams to execs.
Why Join?
This is a unique opportunity to play a foundational role in one of the most exciting transitions in the UK. You’ll be joining a high-pace programme where structure, documentation, and visibility are pivotal to success. A PMO professional who brings rigour, order, and calm to complex environments.
