Delivery Lead / Project Manager – Carbon & Sustainability Projects – Data
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Delivery Lead to oversee a portfolio of technology and sustainability-focused projects. You will play a critical role in enabling the successful delivery of programmes that support carbon reduction, net zero strategies, sustainability data, and circular economy initiatives.
This role will suit a confident project or programme leader who thrives in complex environments and is experienced in working with outsourced delivery models, managing cross-functional teams, and driving strategic outcomes across sustainability and technology portfolios.
Key Responsibilities
*Lead cross-functional project delivery across carbon, energy, and sustainability programmes, ensuring alignment to strategic business goals.
*Manage supplier relationships and coordinate technology partners to ensure successful outcomes, on time and within budget.
*Shape and deliver project roadmaps, working with stakeholders to ensure business requirements are fully captured and translated into effective delivery plans.
*Oversee governance, compliance, and reporting by implementing robust controls and presenting project progress, risks, and financials to senior stakeholders.
*Support business case creation, ensuring clearly defined benefits, success metrics, and investment justification.
*Champion change by facilitating smooth transition into business-as-usual, enabling stakeholder readiness and adoption.
*Identify and mitigate delivery risks, unblock issues, and ensure dependencies across the portfolio are actively managed.
*Ensure regulatory, data protection, and security compliance is embedded into project delivery.
Required Experience
*Proven experience in leading the delivery of multi-million-pound projects or programmes in sustainability, technology, or data-focused domains.
*Strong understanding of both agile and waterfall delivery methodologies.
*Experience managing external suppliers or working within outsourced delivery environments.
*Demonstrated commercial acumen, with accountability for project budgets and supplier negotiations.
*Effective communicator and influencer across all levels of the business, including senior stakeholders.
*Comfortable navigating ambiguity, managing complexity, and driving decision-making under pressure.
Desirable Experience
*Experience with carbon reporting, ESG data, circular economy, or net zero project delivery.
*Familiarity with cloud, automation, or big data project environments.
*Experience working in regulated industries (e.g. utilities, energy, infrastructure).
*Exposure to matrixed organisations or cross-functional programmes.
*Strong working knowledge of risk management, quality control, testing, and change control.
