Java Application Developer
Location: Glasgow (Hybrid Working – 2 Days Onsite)
Contract Duration: 6 Months
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Java Application Developer to join an exciting client of ours for a project based in Glasgow. You will be a key part of the development team, working on designing, building, and configuring applications to meet business and application requirements. As an experienced developer, you will play a crucial role in leading team decisions and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
This role offers a flexible hybrid working model with 2 days onsite in Glasgow, providing a great balance between remote and in-office work.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and configure Java applications to meet business process requirements.
* Assist with team decisions and engage with multiple teams to contribute to strategic project outcomes.
* Provide problem-solving solutions for your immediate team and across broader project teams.
* Develop innovative solutions to enhance application performance and scalability.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, resolve, and prevent technical issues.
* Conduct code reviews and offer constructive feedback to improve code quality.
* Implement best practices and coding standards to ensure high-quality deliverables.
* Stay current with industry trends and technologies, driving continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Experience:
* Proficiency in Java application development.
* Proficiency with Spring Boot for building and deploying microservices.
* Intermediate proficiency in AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) for container orchestration.
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab) at an intermediate level.
* Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to team decision-making.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
Desirable Skills:
* Experience in financial services or similar industries.
* Familiarity with Cloud platforms (AWS) and Kubernetes for scaling and managing cloud-native applications.
* Understanding of front-end technologies such as React or Angular (not mandatory but a plus).
