HR Data Lead (12-Month Contract)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced HR Data Lead to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, supporting the implementation and rollout of a new HRIS/HR SaaS platform as part of a strategic HR transformation.

This is a strategic and hands-on position, responsible for leading all aspects of HR data management throughout the project lifecycle-from data discovery and migration to post-implementation optimisation. The HR Data Lead will ensure the integrity, quality, and compliance of HR data while enabling accurate reporting and analytics to support business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Data Strategy & Planning

  • Define and implement the HR data strategy to support HRIS delivery and related projects.
  • Collaborate with HR, IT, and vendor teams to align data requirements with system capabilities and business needs.
  • Develop data models, mapping documentation, and migration plans for legacy-to-new system transition.

Data Migration & Integration

  • Lead the end-to-end data migration process, including extraction, cleansing, transformation, validation, and loading.
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency across HR modules such as Core HR, Payroll, and Talent.
  • Coordinate with technical teams to manage integrations with other enterprise systems.

Data Quality & Governance

  • Establish and maintain data governance frameworks, including ownership, stewardship, and quality controls.
  • Define and monitor data quality KPIs, addressing issues and driving continuous improvement.
  • Ensure full compliance with data protection regulations (e.g. GDPR) and internal data security standards.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Partner with HR functional leads to understand data requirements and business processes.
  • Act as the liaison between HR, IT, and external vendors to ensure all data-related deliverables are met.
  • Provide training and guidance to HR teams on data standards, processes, and reporting.

Reporting & Analytics Enablement

  • Support the design and delivery of reporting and analytics capabilities within the new HRIS.
  • Ensure data structures support workforce planning, diversity metrics, and operational reporting.
  • Collaborate with BI teams to enable dashboards and data-driven insights aligned with business goals.

Skills & Experience Required

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Strong understanding of HR data structures, relational databases, and ETL processes.
  • Experience with major HRIS platforms such as Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, or Oracle HCM.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and data visualisation/reporting tools such as Power BI.

Data Governance & Compliance

  • In-depth knowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR) and HR data security best practices.
  • Proven ability to establish and manage data governance frameworks within complex organisations.

Project Delivery & Change Readiness

  • Experience working on large-scale HR transformation or system implementation projects.
  • Familiarity with Agile or hybrid project methodologies.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across HR, IT, and vendor teams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical data concepts into business language.
